EDUCATION AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR

DESCRIPTION
The Indiana Geological Survey has an opening for a full-time professional staff member to coordinate outreach efforts.
DUTIES
Serve as the lead representative of the Indiana Geological Survey (IGS) by meeting with teachers, industry representatives, scientists, government employees, and the public to initiate and coordinate geologic projects for designing, developing, and delivering information and educational products. Facilitate outreach initiatives and respond to requests for information and educational services. Develop educational content for the departmental Web site, events, and publications. Conduct tours and geologic field trips, and give presentations representing IGS. Create, organize, and maintain a collection of education and outreach geologic samples (rocks, minerals, fossils, cores, etc.) and instructional materials. Collaborate with IGS scientists and staff to coordinate the publication of the quarterly IGS newsletter and other educational and outreach products. Limited travel throughout Indiana required.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachel?????s degree in geology, environmental science, earth science, or education specializing in earth science and one year experience working in a geologic, earth science, or educational leadership position required. Demonstrated experience in design, development, and delivery of earth science educational products essential. Experience with standard information technologies, including Microsoft Office applications, necessary. Excellent communication, both oral and written, and platform skills as well as the ability to present to students of any age and background/educational level. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a vehicle. Experience with desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign strongly preferred.
