Subject: [MSUNAG] NVivo Caveat

I am not sure if anyone has had the joy of working with QSR when trying to reinstall a boxed copy of NVivo 7. After entering the 25 digit product key code you are required to register the product. If you do not have the Exact name of how it was registered originally it will deny you activation of the product. To make a long story short, if you do not have the exact registration information you cannot reactivate and use the software. If any department is using NVivo I would highly recommend whoever installs it that they write down what was entered for the required registration. In addition to this we have had problems with 3 of the programs running correctly out of about 10.

Their out of this world support is based out of Australia and if you need to call them you have to call them internationally long distance and it has to be 9:-5:30 Australia time!

Apparently there are not a lot of choices out there for qualitative research software, but is anyone using anything else they could recommend?

Thanks

Tim
