How about polling the MSU database and just having it sub in our first and last names?  Easy enough, especially since the records are all available through LDAP.

I have a concern about how the forums are displaying the email address of a person instead of a username. On public forums this could be an email harvesting cornucopia.

That link is viewable without logging in and is essentially a list of email address for potential spammers.

Are there any plans to allow people to display a nickname in lieu of their email address, for those of us that are concerned?

Some forums will permit read-only access without logging in.  Those are
probably going to be the only ones it'll work for.
