> DESCRIPTION:  North Dakota State University invites applications  
> for three, tenure-
> track appointments to begin August, 2008. We seek faculty  
> candidates with primary
> research interests in STEM education.  The successful candidates  
> will serve as the core
> faculty for a proposed Ph.D. program in STEM Education. They will  
> develop and
> contribute to an externally funded research program, including  
> supervision of Ph.D.
> students. All candidates are expected to have a doctorate in  
> science/math or in
> science/math education, an emerging record of scholarly  
> accomplishment, a strong
> science/math background, and evidence of a capacity to contribute  
> to the intellectual,
> research, and instructional life of NDSU. Each successful candidate  
> will have a tenure
> home within a department of the College of Science & Mathematics  
> (80% appointment),
> with a cross-appointment (20%) in the School of Education.
> The successful candidates will conduct research and teach  
> undergraduate and graduate
> level courses. Additional duties will vary depending on  
> departmental placement and

> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
> • A completed Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
> • Strong English oral and written communication skills.

> Assistant Professor:
> Graduate degree in STEM education.
> Advanced Appointments:
> Graduate degree in STEM education, coupled with a substantial  
> record of scholarship,
> success in obtaining and leading funded research projects, and a  
> pattern leading to
> national leadership in STEM education.
> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
> • Experience supervising/coordinating the research activities of  
> students.
> • Experience with the process of obtaining external support.
> • Classroom teaching experience.
> • Emergent record of scholarly publication.
