Instructor, Tenure-Track 

 

The Department of Geoscience invites applications for a tenure-track Instructor position, 
commencing July 1, 2008. 

 

Candidates require a Ph.D. in Geoscience or related discipline and a strong record 
demonstrating teaching excellence, scholarship in teaching, and a student-centered 
approach.  Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate geology courses 
(including field courses) with utilization of effective and innovative teaching practices.  
Course assignments will depend on the area of expertise and will be designated by the 
Department Head.  The average teaching load for an Instructor is the equivalent of 3-5 
half-courses spread over the Fall and Winter sessions.  Scholarly activities in teaching 
and education, professional development in the area of teaching and research in the 
area of expertise are encouraged and supported by the department and the Faculty of 
Science.   

 

The Department of Geoscience is going through a period of significant expansion and is 
one of the largest Geoscience Departments in North America, with over 400 majors.
