Demoting the DC should automatically transfer the roles (GC, PDC, etc) to
other domain controllers in the domain.

Subject: [MSUNAG] Error when demoting a DC?

Hi all,

I attempted to demote a domain controller, and right after starting
dcpromo, the operation failed with the following oh so descriptive error
message:
Failed to configure the service NETLOGON as requested The wait
operation timed out.

Any ideas where to start here? I have no idea what it's complaining
about.

Thanks,
