Yes, that's accurate. The 650 was the first model Treo that had EAS (Exchange Active Sync) as an option, and I have set one up before to sync with an Exchange mailbox. It's not nearly as full featured as a Windows Mobile device, but it does happily and reliably sync the users inbox and calendar. No additional client is needed. As Sean points out, use Versamail. I could easily get a zimbra account to test against, but i don't know if that would meet your needs. If you want to test with a 650, i have one and would be happy to assist.
