Curriculum Writer for Sustainable Agricultural Curriculum
The Michigan State University Museum (MSUM) is seeking an experienced educator, grounded in and knowledgeable of sustainable food, farming, and community issues to develop curriculum modules as a companion to resources publicly available at:
Since 2005 the Voices Project at the MSUM has developed humanities-based resources for organizations to use in their own work: planning, training, building public awareness, and inspiring change around farmers, farming, and local food. Materials include a readers' theatre script for public and group reading to inspire public exploration of issues, and book club and film festival lists to aid the development of public programs around sustainable agriculture. Essays and tips on doing readers' theatre and using civic dialogue are presented along with promotional materials, examples, and profiles of community use.
TO APPLY: Send (a) a brief vita that identifies your experience with sustainable agriculture issues education, teaching, and/or curriculum development, (b) a 2-4 page narrative on your concept for curriculum modules and (c) a sample of writing. Proposals will be considered for in-school programs (middle, high school, community college or university) as well as public/community educational programs. Specify your focus. Include information on the anticipated number of modules, content and issues you want to address, anticipated format and length per module or whole set.
