MIRS BREAKING NEWS: Budgets Being Kicked Out Of Committee -- 10:45 AM

Two departmental budgets were kicked out of joint House-Senate
conference committees this morning. The two budgets are the spending
plans for the Department of Labor and Economic Growth and the Department
of History, Arts and Libraries, marking the first visible sign of any
real movement in weeks on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 budget bills.

Senate Majority Leader Mike BISHOP (R-Rochester) said an agreement is
coming but is "not soup, yet." In the meantime, he said committees are
moving out budgets to "cue them up" so they can be reported out as soon
as possible. The Senate is currently in recess.
