communities which the YFSP will be partnered with this next year.   Here

Position:  Specialist, Youth Farm Stand Project, C.S. Mott Group for
Sustainable Food Systems at MSU, Department of Community, Agriculture,
Recreation, and Resource Studies. 

 

Status:  This is a full-time, annual year, temporary position.   Initial
appointment through September 30, 2008 with reappointment contingent of
funding and performance.

 

Available:  October 1, 2007

 

Application Deadline:  October 18, 2007

 

Starting Salary:  $31,000

 

Qualifications:

1.	Bachelors Degree in Nutrition, Education, Horticulture or
related degree required
2.	Minimum of two years experience in any of the following:
education, nutrition, gardening, and/or community outreach  
3.	Strong verbal and written communication skills
4.	Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
5.	Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
6.	Demonstrated ability to work with diverse, underserved
communities
7.	Knowledge and use of technology in completing job requirements
including Microsoft Office Suite, and web based search and information
systems.
8.	Drivers License and ability to travel within State of Michigan
9.	Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunity and
diversity/pluralism. 

Job Summary:

1.	Project coordination as part of a team of the Michigan Youth
Farm Stand Project 
2.	Direct liaison between campus team and all local sites
3.	Provide technical assistance to local sites content and process
for accomplishing goals at local level 
4.	Coordinate with YFS project evaluation components
5.	Work with local sites to connect with local and/or state markets
6.	Adhere to nutrition education objectives and guidelines of the
USDA Food Stamp Nutrition Education (FSNE) program.  
7.	Organize educational retreats/trainings for local site
coordinators and youth
8.	Train local site coordinators in the objectives of the YFSP:
Nutrition education, entrepreneur experience and reaching FNP target
populations
9.	Development of YFSP Handbook and materials with Graduate Student
Assistant
10.	Walk site leaders/coordinators through action plan and budget
development, and invoicing process
11.	Fund development for project continuation as part of YFSP team
12.	Assist in organizing and coordination of new local sites and the
RFP process
