Peter,

I switched from Verizon to AT&T (yes, for the iPhone) in July, so I
have only about 30 days of experience with them. I don't seem to have
a problem on campus with a wireless signal, seems good and strong.
I've only been mostly in the Lansing / East Lansing / Holt / Mason /
Dewitt area in the past month so not many places in Michigan.

The wireless signal at my home on the south side of Lansing is pretty
good most of the time, but at times it will go from full bars to one
or two bars when I'm on the first floor, depending on where I'm
standing, but the second floor is fine. I don't fault this to AT&T
though, something is hindering the signals as I can't pickup any TV
stations using an antenna either.

The AT&T customer service isn't as good as Verizon, but that maybe
their inexperience with the iPhone. I've only had to call them once
for a problem with my account where my voicemail feature was deleted
from my account. On the upshot, it doesn't take 1+ hours at an AT&T
store if I have a question or need help like it would take with
Verizon, I hated going to Verizon stores, always packed, always slow
and usually unhelpful. I found the Kiosk at the Circuit CIty on the
west side of Lansing much better for Verizon service.

One thing with AT&T is that your unused minutes "rollover" each month,
Verizon didn't have this, which is nice. I never really used the data
network with my Treo previously (cost too high), so while the EDGE
network is slow compared to WiFi, as one would expect, I can't say
it's faster or slower then the Verizon EVDO based on my personal
experience. AT&T allows you to try a phone and service for 30 days
with the option to return without a cancelation fee, last time I
checked Verizon limited this to 10 - 14 days.

One last thing to mention, when I signed up for my service with AT&T I
mentioned I was a MSU employee. They provided me a form to fill out,
sign, and fax along with a photocopy of my employee ID to receive a
15% discount on my monthly plan, same as Verizon offered.

If you have other questions I'd be happy to answer them.
