 Topic: Business Intelligence

Presenter: Linda Vernon, Business Intelligence Team Lead, Enterprise Business Systems Projects (ESBP), Diane Waters, EBSP Communication Director, and Melinda Grubich, Workgroup Lead for HR Business Intelligence.

Executive leadership has specified four core high-level objectives for the Enterprise Business Systems Projects to accomplish; these are flexibility, transparency, standardization support, and delegation capability.  The project must support an approach to data and information that makes both more open and apparent within legal and ethical boundaries.

Part of the directive of the Enterprise Business System Projects is to design an integrated set of administrative tools that can be used by faculty and staff to accomplish the business of Michigan State University.  A component of this is Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, which will support multi-dimensional ad-hoc online analysis and analytical processing including standard reports publishing.

Linda will introduce the topic of ‘Business Intelligence’ and cover the following topics:

§         What is Business Intelligence?

§         Why is Business Intelligence important?

§         How would you use a Business Intelligence tool?

§         How does Business Intelligence involve you?
