Subject: Call for Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education
Pre-proposals Now Open

Colleagues,

North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension (NCR
SARE) has just issued its call for 2008 research and education project
pre-proposals. Submissions are due June 19, 2007. This granting
program provides funds to collaborative teams of scientists, farmers,
institutions, organizations, and educators to explore sustainable
agriculture through in-depth research projects or
education/demonstration projects. Project results must benefit NCR
agriculture. Although Congress has not finalized the budget, SARE
anticipates that roughly $1.5 million will be available to fund
approximately 10 to 13 grant projects, with individual grants up to
$150,000, for projects lasting up to three years .

The call for pre-proposals is available at
http://ncr.sare.org/resedu.htm

If you have ideas for a possible project, I would be happy to talk with
you about possibilities to develop your ideas into a SARE research or
education pre-proposal. Part of my role as Michigan's SARE coordinator
is to help Michigan people and organizations participate in SARE's
programs. Please feel free to e-mail or telephone me if I can help.

Also, don't forget that the NCR SARE call for Professional Development
pre-proposals is also open until May 25, 2007. That call for
pre-proposals is available at http://ncr.sare.org/PDP/pdp.htm

I look forward to seeing some strong Michigan pre-proposals submitted
for both programs. Let me know how I can help.
