Regarding the Powdery Mildew question, it
was asked by a non organic farmer, which therefore maybe I should not pose that
query on this site as it is intended for organic farmers. So, sorry if I was
misleading but then the feed could be organic feed. But still the
question is; are their any attributes, in terms of providing a readily
available carbon source to the plant, perhaps?
But if you have ideas and questions about
Insect and Disease control you many be interested in a class on April 19th
at 6-8:30 pm in East Lansing and Ithaca, MI. An IP video conference will
be held that is funded by the North Central SARE project and hosted by Univ of Illinois
and Purdue Univ. An IP Video conference allows viewers to see speakers
from various sites present and then a chance to discuss and ask question with
each site. There are over 30 sites participating from the North Central region.
If you would like to register for the
class please email Vicki Morrone (East Lansing) [log in to unmask] or Dan Rossman
(Ithaca) [log in to unmask]
Here is the schedule for the IP Video
conferences. All will be available at Ithaca and East Lansing site.

Subject: Re: What do youknow about
Powdery mildew??
There are some interesting, simple
remedies for powdery mildew ( things like diluted milk and baking soda
solution) but I've never heard of this one.
Taylor is right that use of conventional
chicken feed in this way on certified organic ground would result in loss
of certification on the field where it was used. Reason: conventional chicken
feed will contain, among other things, genetically modified corn and soy.
ATTRA has some documents on disease
control in various plants that sometimes include the simple home remedies.
