Tom Davis, Director of ACNS will be sending the following memo to the Deans, Directors, and Chairs (DDC) list real soon now. As a courtesy to the NAG membership, it is being posted here prior to the DDC list. ======================================================================= On Friday, July 21, Academic Computing and Network Services (ACNS) will oversee Phase II of electrical system upgrades at the Computer Center. This work will require a complete shut down of electrical service in the Computer Center machine room. As a result, many core computing and networking services will be unavailable starting at 6:00 P.M. Barring unforeseen problems, all core services will be restored by 11:00 P.M. We anticipate that basic network access (both on campus and Internet connectivity) will remain online during this outage. The following services, however, will be unavailable: afs.msu.edu angel.msu.edu lon-capa.msu.edu magic.msu.edu mail.msu.edu MSUnet Wireless For more information, including a more complete list of services that will be affected, see http://techbase.msu.edu/viewpathfinder.asp?id=7129. Note that Phase III of this electrical system upgrade is expected to occur just two weeks later - on Friday, August 4, from 6:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.
