Last year, ACNS prepared a CD with tools including an antivirus scan and provided thousands of copies in the dorms, in order to avert an anticipated Blaster II. This year, ACNS has prepared a Setup and Resource CD that includes a one-time anti-virus scan as well as options to set up a computer for the campus network. ACNS has distributed copies of this to each residence hall for checkout as needed. Other units or individuals should feel free to clone the Resource CD. An image of it along with further information is linked in our knowledge base at: http://techbase.msu.edu/viewpathfinder.asp?id=5307 Please be judicious in marketing and distributing any tools CD to students, in order to avert any Trojjan distributions. The MSU Computer Store offers Norton Antivirus to students at a very nominal rate -- $15 until June 2007 as I recall. At Orientation and elsewhere, we strongly encourage students to avail themselves of this offer. /rich On 8/22/05, Bosman, Don <[log in to unmask]> wrote: > > What is the status, if any, of an antivirus disc for students? > > Should we plan on rolling our own? > > > > > Don Bosman > Information Technologist > Michigan State University, Libraries > 100 Library > East Lansing, MI 48824 > 517-432-6123 ex 233 > [log in to unmask] >
