The House Appropriations Committee met on 6-7-05 and included language in the Higher Education Appropriations Act for FY 3005-06 to ELIMINATE the KCP Initiative The full House will now have an opportunity to review the proposed legislation and vote on the recommendations submitted by the Appropriations Committee.   Prior to the House vote on the Annual Higher Education Appropriations Act there will be discussions on the bill held in the House.  This will be the final opportunity to impact the House version of the legislative language.  

The Committee also voted to eliminate the Michigan Indian Tuition Waiver.

The Senate version of the Higher Education Appropriations Act does NOT eliminate either the KCP Initiative or the Indian Tuition Waiver.  It is expected that a Conference Committee, consisting  of representatives from the Governor's Office, the House and the Senate, will meet to reconcile the differences between the various bills.
