There currently is a joint AIS-ACNS-VUDAT project I am leading that is looking into single sign-on solutions in general and Sentinel in particular. Now don't get too excited, this is on a pretty slow track. Currently we are evaluating and comparing Sentinel and a couple of open source single sign-on solutions, CAS from Yale U., Cosign from U. of Michigan are probably the two leading ones, for a beta-type implementation of single sign-on between the Magic system and ANGEL. It is construed as research/testing leading eventually toward an enterprise single sign-on solution. Now, if when you say "web service," you are referring to "web services" (i.e. SOAP, XML, etc. type architecture), then I hope I'm not giving out any trade secrets by saying that AIS has web services-based versions of Sentinel, including a Linux/PHP version (developed with College of Engineering/Dennis Kelly)in beta right now. This would be infinitely useful as it would allow any server type or programming language access to the tool. I would like to implement it to bring my department closer to single sign on but don't run windows web servers. -- Bryan Murphy Computer/Network Coordinator Plant Research Labs and Plant Biology [log in to unmask] | [log in to unmask]
