We are shutting down MSU's AltaVista search service. The RAID array on which the AltaVista index resided did not come back up after the May 5 power shutdown. MSU AltaVista has not been in production since August of 2003, and its index was incomplete and outdated. Anyone who still used MSU AltaVista should convert to another service. For MSU content searches from www.msu.edu will search MSU Keywords and Google's index of msu.edu. For more information please see: http://keywords.msu.edu/viewpathfinder.asp?id=50 A small number of campus content providers may still have relied on "Special Indexes" for their sites. If this applies to you, you may want to switch to using Google. Google lets you restrict searches to a domain or a URL. If you are a content provider in this situation, I'd be glad to discuss this. /rich
