Thanks Lori for replying,

I'm running the latest and greatest Norton Corporate Edition which is called Symantec Client Security 2.1, which includes
the firewall.

I'll try uninstalling the patch first like you said to see if that works.

I'll let you know what happens.

One thought though, will I be able to get to this patch individually (is it post service pack 4) or is it bundled with SP 4?

Hi Samone.

Try logging onto those Win2000 computers in safe mode, then uninstall Microsoft patch 885835, then reboot and see if you can log onto those computers using the regular mode.  Also, what version of which antivirus software are you running on those machines?  This sounds like a problem we encountered recently here in the Center.  We had to upgrade our antivirus software to Symantec Antivirus 9.0 to eliminate an incompatibility with our older version and patch 885835.

Subject: [MSUNAG] 2000 Professional machines can't logon to domain

Hello Great Minds,

I get this error when I try to login two newly installed Win Pro 2000 machines onto my domain:
The system cannot log you on because the system's computer account
in it's primary domain is missing or the password on that account is incorrect.

I found a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that was close to this issue but it's for NT 4.0 machines.
I called Microsoft since the article says to call for the hotfix - hoping they would have a version for Win Pro
2000, but they sent me back to look for a specific article for Win 200 Pro - which either doesn't exist or I couldn't find.

The article I found was: Logon Attempt Does Not Work on Computers with Windows NT Newly Installed: Q223997
OR
Could this be a replication issue?
Has anyone else had this problem - am I going in the right direction?
