In IIS, you can create the website mysite.educ.msu.edu, but have it point to a specific folder. In IIS, bring up properties of the website, then click on the Home Directory tab, and set the Local Path to whatever you want. -DC ________________________________ From: MSU Network Administrators Group [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Laurence Bates Sent: Monday, February 21, 2005 1:17 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [MSUNAG] DNS question Does anyone know of a way to create a dns record that points to a folder on a web server rather than the root directory. I get a lot of requests for dns names like http://mysite.educ.msu.edu that point to something like http://www.educ.msu.edu/mysite I usually claim that it is not possible but perhaps I am missing something. What do other people do with such requests? __________________________________________ Laurence A.
