My sense is that these systems stress the convenience of fitting into a 1U space but they often include cheap KVM switches. For me the convenience of a 1U system wears off but the stability of a good KVM switch is extremely valuable. If you have 16 servers attached to a switch that locks up then it can be a real pain in the neck to deal with. That is why I use a standard keyboard, mouse, and monitor but require a very high quality KVM switch. _____ From: MSU Network Administrators Group [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of David Benjamin Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 9:30 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [MSUNAG] KVM Console This is more of what I was looking for suggestions on: http://www.cdw.com/shop/search/results.aspx?key=LCD+KVM <http://www.cdw.com/shop/search/results.aspx?key=LCD+KVM&platform=all> &platform=all Any thoughts of what brand is good and what ACTUALLY works? This is a LCD KVM console drawer that mounts within a server cabinet. We have had issues with past cheap KVM's and want to find one that actually works. I'm aware these are also sold separately, but we would like the all-in-one package of the LCD console drawer with KVM integrated. If someone has a suggestion for a great 16 port KVM they like and a great console with different brands, that's find too. I'm open to all responses.
