Having a server based solution check for invalid email addresses and
dropping them would also eliminate tons of spam.

I don't know if that is even possible.

Would it be possible to generalize this blocking and reject any message
that claims to be from an @msu.edu address that doesn't exist?   Might
help for tomorrow's virus.
