Please forward to computer support personnel and others interested in spam, virus, and computer security issues. The MSU Computer Store invites you to a presentation by McAfee on a variety of their offerings related to computer and network security. McAfee will present on tools ranging from desktop to departmental to central ("enterprise"). They'll discuss products ranging from anti-spam to anti-virus to firewall. The presentation will take place in the International Center Library (formerly the "Con Con Room") on Tuesday, April 29, from 1:00 to 4:00. We encourage college and departmental computer support staff to attend and ask questions. We've told McAfee that we seek technical overviews of the products, not sales pitches. McAfee tells us they will describe product functionality and do some live demos, leaving plenty of time for questions. (They say "There will be no Powerpoint.") Alfredo Federico, McAfee's manager for government and education sales for this region, says that in similar presentations at other universities topics typically include: 1) Strategies for managing and lowering cost of ownership for virus protection Centralized management to lower cost and manpower Keeping virus protection up to date Use of reporting to measure areas of success and vulnerabilities Management of Symantec Enterprise Product 2) Locking down critical devices with a Desktop Firewall 3) Pro-Active assessment of vulnerabilities in your environment 4) Protecting the Gateway. 5) Summary and open Q & A If you have any questions please contact Jackie Desander ([log in to unmask]). /rich
