Even for the anti-microsoft crowd, commercial and free (eh, to some extent on this one, at least much better than Courier) products do exist that offer the same features and an intuitive and esthetically pleasing interface. I know they are not going to please everyone, but I can't say the reaction is unwarranted... I mentioned in NCC meeting when it was being demo'd moons ago that requirements and comments should have been elicited from various representable groups (faculty, staff, students, sysadmins, etc.) before making decisions they had already committed to.
