I've been using this product on our Windows domain for a few of our high-profile Internet users. None of the computers have been compromised while they had Black Ice installed and running. I've got it installed on Win2k and XP; haven't tried it on any previous versions. It doesn't cause any trouble on Windows client PCs, but does wreak some havoc if you try to run it on a Windows server. It also keeps a nice little log, which is actually somewhat useful if you need to track down a larger problem. My .02! And - compared to the XP Firewall - this is a bit different as it kind of acts like Anti-Virus software for your network connection, warning you about various "attack signatures" that it sees on your NIC. The XP Firewall is a true (stateless - I think?) firewall - configured with whatever Microsoft thinks you need to let in and out. It won't "warn" you about attacks (and the cool part, what KIND of attack it might be :).
