Having Antigen notify external senders/recipient of viruses or filtered files could certainly cause a lot of unwanted emails. Also, I've never seen Antigen 'alter its own return address to appear to come from the user's local E-mail system'. Are you sure that is what happened? -----Original Message----- From: Joseph Scott [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Tuesday, January 29, 2002 10:15 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Misconfigured Software Ok, just dropping my two cents in here. Fromwhat I am understanding, Antigen is sending out a message warning of a virus to everyone on the list the mail was sent to? If that's correct, let me paint you a little scenario here. What if I send a email virus out to the entire population/dist. list for MSU? Can we say exponential chaos? Let me see...every single system out there wil receive a copy of the virus, and then say it cleaned it and return it to..every singe system? Hmm.. Better yet, what if I did it like ohhh..8 or 9 times...every hour? If this is the setup now..it needs to be changed ASAP
