 The College of Agricultural & Marine Science—Marine Sciences and Fisheries Department has an open position for an Assistant Professor of Ichthyology, Fisheries Science, and Marine Biology
Closing date: 22/06/2025
Specific Conditions:

- A Ph.D. in Ichthyology, Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, or a closely related field.

- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the university level.

- Strong research expertise in fish taxonomy, ecology, physiology, and behavior.

- A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and the potential to secure external research funding.

- Commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, including courses in ichthyology, fisheries science, and marine biology.

- Experience in fieldwork, laboratory techniques, and collaboration with fisheries stakeholders is desirable.
- Must be able to apply DNA barcoding and PCR techniques for fish identification, and utilize modern molecular and analytical methods in fisheries research.

Specific Responsibilities:

- Conduct high-impact research in ichthyology and contribute to SQU’s strategic research goals.

- Teach and mentor students in marine sciences and fisheries programs.

- Supervise graduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) research projects.

- Engage in departmental, college, and university service activities.

- Collaborate with national and international research institutions.

- Represent the university in faculty meetings, committees, and community outreach activities
