The Illinois WS program is recruiting to fill a vacancy for a Biological Science Technician located in Chicago, Illinois. The position’s duty station is O’Hare International Airport, but the responsibilities of the position will be district-wide. Similar to many positions in the IL WS program, this position is extremely diverse in nature. Primary duties of the position include wildlife hazard management at O’Hare, which is includes a large raptor trapping and relocation program, along with providing cooperators white-tailed deer management from November-March within northern Illinois. Other wildlife damage management duties that round out the position include, but are not limited to, Canada goose and gull damage management, beaver damage management, and performing outreach efforts. The incumbent will need to demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and team building skills while having a strong background in managing conflicts with a variety of species of wildlife.



Outdoor recreational opportunities are abundant in the Land of Lincoln, ranging from world class white-tailed deer hunting opportunities on private and public land, outstanding waterfowl hunting opportunities in the Mississippi flyway, fishing on large bodies of water such as Lake Michigan, rivers and reservoirs, along with small streams and ponds. There is an abundance of green space with trails for hiking and biking. For those who may enjoy other types of entertainment, Chicago offers a top notch food scene, multiple major sports teams, an endless list of Broadway shows, concerts, and festivals, as well as numerous world class museums and restaurants.
