The Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy (UPLC) is accepting applications for an Executive Director based out of Marquette, MI.


About UPLC:

The Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy (UPLC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit land trust dedicated to conserving and protecting land across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula since 1999. Over the past 25 years, we have achieved national accreditation through the Land Trust Alliance, expanded our outreach to include educational and recreational programs, and built a strong team of full-time staff and dedicated supporters.


UPLC works to promote healthy ecosystems, safeguard water resources, protect wildlife habitats, and enhance outdoor recreation opportunities for future generations. With the support of donors, volunteers, and partner organizations, we currently protect over 5,000 acres across the Upper Peninsula, including 9 dedicated preserves, 25 experimental working forest reserves, and 26 conservation easements.


Position Summary

UPLC is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as its next Executive Director. Working closely with our board and staff, the Executive Director will drive the organization's growth, sustainability, and mission impact. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate conservation leader to guide a growing, community-driven land trust into its next chapter.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  *   Utilize capacity-building resources to strengthen organizational operations, driving strategic growth in conservation efforts.
  *   Develop, strengthen, and coordinate partnerships to achieve shared goals and strategies for the conservancy.
  *   Cultivate donor base while developing and growing sound financial capacity that supports the conservancy’s mission.
  *   Provide progress reports and updates about key priority activities to the board, partners, and the public.
  *   Develop and track operating and project budgets commensurate with shared goals and strategies.
  *   Hire, manage, and inspire staff and volunteers to collaboratively achieve the conservancy’s goals and mission.
  *   Ensure adherence to Land Trust accreditation standards and practices
  *   Represent UPLC throughout the greater community of the Upper Peninsula through appearances, presentations, newsletters, various media, and personal relationships.
