Graduate Research Assistantship
Managing the Risks of Vector Borne Diseases
Department of Natural Resources and the Environment,
Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA

Paul Curtis (Cornell Cooperative Extension) and Bruce Lauber (Cornell Center for Conservation Social Sciences) are seeking applicants for a graduate assistantship for an M.S. student.  The student is expected to contribute to a project on risk management related to tick- and mosquito-borne diseases in New York State by encouraging risk-reduction behaviors.

The applicant will be expected to develop both qualitative and quantitative research skills and to carry out a survey, focus groups, and/or interviews.

Support packages may include a combination of research and teaching assistantships, depending upon the qualifications and interests of the student.

Qualifications:  B.S. The successful applicant will have a strong background in some combination of risk analysis, management, and/or communication; natural resource management; and/or environmental psychology (experience in all areas is not necessary).  Applicants should have a record of outstanding academic performance (e.g., >3.5 GPA) and comfort with working with stakeholders.
