Position Title: Stream Restoration Project Manager
Position Type: Permanent, fulltime (40 hours/week)

Michigan Trout Unlimited is a non-profit organization committed to conserving, protecting, and restoring Michigan’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. Michigan Trout Unlimited is part of a broader Trout Unlimited network that includes 19 local chapters throughout Michigan as well as Trout Unlimited National (with over 150,000 members and more than 250 staff across the country).
Michigan Trout Unlimited is seeking candidates to join our team and fill a new fulltime permanent position.  The position will support our work enhancing watersheds and coordinating stream restoration projects.  This Stream Restoration Project Manager position will report to the Executive Director, function as part of the team of Michigan TU staff and TU National staff working in Michigan, and will coordinate with and support a broad community of TU Chapters and conservation partners.
A majority of the focus of the position will be on managing and supporting stream enhancement projects (e.g., instream habitat enhancements, road-stream crossing replacements, dam removals, and resource assessments); including all phases from project identification, partner collaboration, grant acquisition and management, design, permitting, oversight, monitoring and reporting.  In addition to the stream restoration project management focus, the position may periodically support other top priorities of the organization including communications, education, advocacy, fundraising, administration, targeted research, and development of new initiatives.
Ideal applicants for the position should be driven by a personal commitment to conservation, possess excellent independent initiative, demonstrate proficiency with concepts and practices of stream enhancement, and be able to demonstrate highly effective oral and written communication skills. A minimum of a B.S. degree in fisheries, aquatic sciences, ecology, or environmental sciences, or another relevant field is required.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience is required. Office location is “remote” or home/residential office-based, and the location is flexible and negotiable.  Frequent travel to meetings and project sites is necessary. Compensation package is competitive and will be commensurate with educational and professional experience level of selected candidates.  We are looking for a candidate that can confidently serve the position and represent the best complement to our overall team; and thus, encourage applications across the spectrum of credential levels (and commensurate compensation will be discussed with the  finalists).
