Hello! Reaching out for those that may be interested: Wharton Center has a special $19 student ticket offer to hear one of the greatest cellists of all time, Alisa Weilerstein, perform the greatest cello work of all time, Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1. The performance also includes Bach’s Cello Suites Nos. 3 & 5. More information is below. This is a rare performance coming to campus.

Alisa Weilerstein
Thursday, January 26, 7:30pm
Cobb Great Hall, Wharton Center, East Lansing

“Weilerstein is truly a phenomenon.”—The Telegraph (UK)

One of the greatest cellists of all time performs the greatest cello work of all time! Hailed as "Yo-Yo Ma's heiress apparent and sovereign of the American cello" by New York Magazine, Weilerstein’s published recordings include chart-topping albums as well as the recent winner of BBC Music’s “Recording of the Year” award for her recording of the Bach Cello Suites.  This performance is a rare chance to hear three of those suites—Nos. 1, 3, and 5. Holding a very special place in the musical canon, these unaccompanied suites are a musical touchstone, particularly the beloved Suite No. 1, which has been hailed as the greatest cello work of all time. Don’t miss this special night of music, promising to be a highlight of the season.
