Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that through a competitive process, John Mezias has been selected by the Board of Academy of International Business (AIB) as the Editor of AIB Insights and William Newburry as the Associate Editor from 2019-2021. In addition, Chei Hwee Chua has been appointed as AIB Insights' Communications Officer. All three of them will serve on the AIB Insights Editorial Team, together with Anne Hoekman who is the Managing Editor.

Below are the bios of John Mezias and William Newburry, the content of AIB Insights' upcoming issue, and a final reminder of our call for papers for the special issue on International Business in Latin America.

Bio of Editor

John M. Mezias (Ph.D., New York University) is a tenured faculty member at University of Miami's Miami Business School. He has long served on the Editorial Boards of Strategic Management Journal and the Journal of International Business Studies, and was Associate Editor of AIB Insights from 2016-2018. He has published in such scholarly journals as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Harvard Business Review, Organization Science, Strategic Organization, Journal of Management, Long Range Planning, British Journal of Management, and the Journal of International Management. His research has been nominated for several awards, and he won the Academy of Management International Management Division's Best Paper award. Dr. Mezias is also Coordinator of Miami Business School's Strategy and International Business Ph.D. Program.

Bio of Associate Editor

William Newburry (Ph.D., New York University) is Chair of the Department of International Business and the Ryder Eminent Scholar of Global Business at Florida International University. He is also a Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow at the Nanyang Business School Center for Emerging Market Studies. In addition to serving as AIB Insights Associate Editor, Dr. Newburry is Series Editor for Research in Global Strategic Management, and served as Chapter Chair of the Academy of International Business Latin America Chapter from 2012-2018. Dr. Newburry's research focuses on how multinational corporations relate to subsidiaries and other local stakeholders when they invest in foreign countries, with an emphasis on reputation in emerging markets. He co-authored Emerging Market Multinationals: Managing Operational Challenges for Sustained International Growth (2016), and has published 40+ articles in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals, along with 20+ book chapters. He serves on the Senior Advisory Board of the Review of International Business and Strategy, and on several journal editorial boards.

Call for Papers - Final Reminder for Submissions to the Special Issue on International Business in Latin America:
Continuing its outreach to AIB Chapters, the second issue of AIB Insights in 2019 will focus on Latin America. For recent examples of regionally-focused issues, please see the 2018 issues on Africa (Vol. 18, No. 4<https://aib.msu.edu/publications/insights/volume/18/issue/4>) and Central and Eastern Europe (Vol. 18, No. 1<https://aib.msu.edu/publications/insights/volume/18/issue/1>). AIB Insights issues typically have four to five articles each, which vary from those of other AIB journals in that they are shorter (2500 words), are more practitioner oriented, and also are published on a much more rapid production schedule. We invite submissions related to any aspect of international business in Latin America. Given limited space and a desire to reflect the diversity of the region, preference will be given to submissions involving multiple countries as opposed to single-country studies. Example topics include studies that compare institutions across the region, differences across countries in trajectories regarding openness towards international trade, similarities and differences across the region in the role of business groups and/or family firms, among many others. Submissions that examine relationships between Latin America and other emerging and/or developed markets would also be particularly welcome. In order to meet our production schedule, we request initial submissions no later than Monday, March 11. Authors will be notified by March 29, with final revisions due by April 10. Please send your submission to: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, copying [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, and indicate "Latin America Issue" in the subject line.

Best wishes,
John Mezias, Editor
William Newburry, Associate Editor
Anne Hoekman, Managing Editor
Chei Hwee Chua, Communications Officer
