Start Date: January 2019 or August 2019

REPORTS TO: Dean, Turock School of Arts and Sciences/Program Coordinator Biological and Physical Sciences

The Turock School of Arts and Sciences at Keystone College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor of Wildlife Biology to begin ideally in January 2019. The start date may possibly be extended until August 2019.

A Ph.D. from a regionally or nationally accredited program in wildlife biology/wildlife management, fisheries biology, ecology, or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment is required. A demonstrable ability to teach undergraduate courses in wildlife or fisheries biology, wetlands biology or ecology, limnology, and conservation biology is a requirement. The ability to also teach a range of one credit field biology and/or study abroad courses that focus on identification, specific techniques, or specific topics is also required. These courses may include subject matter specific to the candidate’s interests and skills. The candidate should possess excellent field skills in identification, the ability to apply molecular techniques to wildlife/fisheries issues and research, and have a desire to cultivate and maintain relationships with local/state fish and game officials. The faculty member may take a leadership role in the further development of courses and offerings within the Wildlife Biology program and oversight of the Keystone College Environmental Education Institute, which offers hands-on educational activities for those interested in exploring, protecting, and enjoying our natural world. The Institute offers week-long summer programs for educators and students, as well as one-day workshops and multi-week programs covering a variety of ecological, outdoor recreation, and sustainable living topics throughout the year. Experience with grant writing, online teaching and learning is beneficial.

The successful applicant will exhibit a willingness to mentor undergraduate research projects. All full-time faculty at Keystone College serve as academic advisors and on College committees. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Scholarship, service to the College, a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentorship of students is expected of all candidates.

The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and be self-motivated.

Keystone College is a private, co-educational college where emphasis is on undergraduate education, and importance is placed on faculty mentored student research projects. The School of Arts and Sciences strives to maintain a personalized, student-centered approach to teaching and a collaborative approach to productive undergraduate research. Our degree programs include General Biology with additional concentrations in Forensic Biology, Microbiology, Wildlife Biology, and Environmental Biology, Natural Sciences with Allied Health concentrations, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Resource Management, Geology, and Public Health.

Letters of application should include curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation or the complete contact information for three recommenders, a statement of undergraduate teaching philosophy, and a statement of research interests.
