CALL FOR PAPERS

JIBS Paper Development Workshop

EIBA 2018 | Poznan, Poland | Thursday, 13 December 2018

Submission deadline: 3 September 2018
________________________________________

The 2018 Journal of International Business Studies Paper Development Workshop (JIBS-PDW) will be held between 08:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Thursday 13 December at the conference venue (Poznan University of Economics and Business), as part of the pre-conference activities taking place before the formal start of the EIBA 2018 conference that same afternoon. Participants should therefore plan to arrive in Poznan the evening before.

The PDW is the most extensive of the various JIBS outreach activities conducted by the JIBS editorial team. Organized by José Pla-Barber (University of Valencia) and Becky Reuber (JIBS Area Editor), the 2018 JIBS-PDW involves JIBS editors, many experienced scholars, and editorial board members.

The purpose of the JIBS-PDW is to provide junior scholars with developmental feedback on their current research projects in international business studies. While we hope that many of these papers will be eventually submitted to JIBS, the purpose of the PDW is broader: to improve the quality of IB research and bring new scholars into the IB field. We invite original papers from junior authors or junior faculty members who have not previously published in JIBS. In particular, we hope to attract papers from scholars (1) who are located in universities in emerging economies or in universities that offer limited support for international business research, or (2) who are trained in disciplines less commonly associated with the field (e.g., human geography, political science, ethnography, or economic history) but interested in conducting international business research.

The JIBS-PDW is structured to provide feedback to authors with research papers, and to researchers who are designing empirical studies, on International Business topics. PDW participants will receive feedback on their work from JIBS editors, members of the Consulting Editors Board (CEB), Editorial Review Board (ERB), and other experienced scholars. The 2018 program will start with an introductory session led by JIBS Area Editor Rebecca Reuber. The participants will then be divided into groups. Authors will be paired with CEB, ERB, and guest editors, for two-on-two discussions where two guest editors will provide feedback to three authors on improving their papers.

Prospective participation in the 2018 JIBS-PDW are invited to submit their paper manuscripts to José Pla-Barber ([log in to unmask]) by Monday 3 September 2018. Please note that each applicant can make only one submission, but may also have submitted the same (or another) version of the paper for presentation at the EIBA 2018 Conference. All authors should indicate their names, e-mails, and affiliations, on the cover page of the manuscript. Papers must be less than 10,000 words in length, and should follow the JIBS Guide for Authors (http://www.palgrave-journals.com/jibs/style_guide.html).

Participation at the JIBS-PDW is limited. Participants will selected based on the quality of their submitted work, and will be notified about the acceptance of their submissions no later than 1 October. Participants will be required to confirm their participation by 17 October (the early-bird registration deadline for the conference), and they will then be able to submit a revised manuscript (i.e., the version to be discussed at the JIBS-PDW) by 27 November.

NOTE: All participants must register for the EIBA 2018 Conference (http://eiba2018.eiba.org) before they confirm their attendance at the JIBS-PDW.
