Job Announcement: Executive Director

Position: Executive Director, Stream Teams United

Location: Jefferson City or location within Missouri

Who We Are :  Stream Teams United, (also known as the Missouri Stream Team Watershed Coalition), is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that supports the Missouri Stream Team Program and advances the protection and improvement of Missouri’s 115,000 miles of flowing waters. The Missouri Stream Team Program is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Conservation Federation of Missouri, and gives all citizens an opportunity to get involved in river conservation. The first Missouri Stream Team was established in 1989 and the program has grown to over 5,600 Teams of citizens who work toward our shared goals of education, stewardship, and advocacy. Stream Team Associations are groups of Stream Teams organized within watersheds.  The Stream Teams United Board is made up of representatives from 19 Stream Team Associations throughout the state.

The Executive Director reports to the Executive Committee/Stream Teams United Board

Responsibilities of the Executive Director
Communicate and explore partnership opportunities with Missouri Stream Team Program sponsors on a regular basis, to include: Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and Conservation Federation of Missouri.
Support the mission and vision of Stream Teams United by implementing strategic goals.
Build an organizational culture that supports the Stream Teams United mission statewide.
Secure funds needed to implement the goals and objectives of the organization through grant writing; seeking support from corporate, governmental and individual donors; and initiating special fundraising opportunities.
Ensure that the organization’s resources are accounted for, well managed, and reported to the Executive Committee and Board on a regular basis.
Cultivate excellent relationships with local media; provide oversight, training and coordination of Stream Teams United’s presence in social media.
Sponsor and/or co-sponsor special events that promote the mission of Stream Teams United.
Work with the Executive Committee and the Board to establish, staff, coordinate and support ad hoc working committees to meet specific goals.
Report to the Executive Committee regularly on internal organization matters, including relevant staffing, funding, program accomplishments, and priorities.

Specific Responsibilities:
Implement the advocacy program for water as outlined in the Stream Teams United Advocacy Policy.
Implement and grow the annual Paddle MO event.
Administer and coordinate expansion of the Missouri Clean Marina Program.
Develop and implement a marketing plan to promote the Stream Teams United Missouri license plate fundraising program.
Supervise Stream Teams United staff, interns, and volunteers.
Administer and meet contractual requirements for periodical publication of The State of Missouri’s Streams: Summaries of Chemistry and Invertebrate Data.
Attend monthly Missouri Stream Team coordinators’ meetings.
Work with the Executive Committee to coordinate management of two meetings a year with the entire Stream Teams United Board.
Provide the Stream Teams United Board, Missouri Stream Team Program sponsors, and the Missouri Stream Team community with an annual report detailing what Stream Teams United has completed in the areas of education, stewardship, and advocacy.

Minimum Requirements
BA/BS degree
Experience with a non-profit organization including: fundraising, grant writing, grant administration, grant reporting, program evaluation, developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures, financial management, budgeting, and reporting
Knowledge of the legislative process and experience in educating legislators about environmental issues.
Experience in grassroots advocacy and community organizing
Experience communicating with the public and/or media, both written and verbal, including: writing press releases, planning and implementing media and social media campaigns
Experience in planning, organizing and implementing special events for fundraising and educational purposes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to travel throughout Missouri
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and experience with the Missouri Stream Team community.
Experience with email marketing and communication, and QuickBooks.
Experience developing and managing website content.
Outdoor/recreational experience on Missouri waterways.

Compensation
$35,000 to $42,000
