Bill – 40 years as a newspaper reporter, business writer for *The Des
Moines Register* and city editor
Linda – 10 years as a newspaper reporter, copy editor and city editor; 13
years as a travel writer and travel editor for *Midwest Living* magazine

For the past 10 years we have operated our own freelance writing, editing
and proofreading business. Our main clients are a major Iowa bank and an
Indiana state tourism agency. We do a variety of things for them: editing
and rewriting letters that go the clients, major business proposals, annual
reports, and newsletters for the bank: writing travel stories and working
as a consultant for the tourism agency. We also have done writing and
editing on two books – both commemorative anniversary books – for the Iowa
State University Department of Engineering and for the Des Moines Rotary
Club.
We have served many other clients for occasional assignments, performing
such tasks as proofreading annual Christmas letters for a local
organization that helps immigrants become established in business,
proofreading and helping rewrite job resumes, editing and proofreading
business letters for a financial planning firm, proofreading an application
for a federal grant for an engineering company, and rewriting a brochure
for a long-term care facility.
*Pricing:*
We charge $45 an hour, deliver a fast turnaround on projects and meet our
promised deadlines. Proofreading and editing a one- to two-page letter
normally takes between 30 minutes and an hour. We ask for payment within 30
days of delivery of finished product to client.
