Attention undergrad students!
This is a great opportunity for undergrad students to be involved in
ongoing campus sustainability projects and get great experience (including
improving English for ESL students)!!!
SPARTA (Students Planning Advanced Retrofit Technology Applications) is a
registered student organization in College of Engineering that focuses on
applying the most cost effective retrofit technology applications for the
targeted buildings around MSU campus. Join SPARTA, you will work with other
undergrad students, grad students, engineering faculties (Dr. Richard Lunt
and Dr. Rubbeca Anthony), and school policy makers on real world projects
that will reduce energy consumption of campus buildings with innovative
technology such as solar energy.
This year, we have 4 projects:
1. Solar Planning: using MATLAB to simulate the electricity generation and
comparing to measured data.
2. Window Film: using the knowledge of energy balance and measured data to
create a model for calculating the energy saving by using window film.
3. LED Lighting: developing MATLAB script and analyzing measured
electricity usage data.
4. Data mining: choosing appropriate load monitoring devices to collect
electricity consumption.
We also need a website editor (you do not need to be a professional, just
have the basic blogging knowledge is enough.)
All the projects are in different developing phases and the work can be
easy or difficult. We will find the right work to fit your interests and
skill sets, and we will teach you things that you have not known. Just be
passionate and curious!
Please email me back at [log in to unmask] if interested, or attend our
regular meeting at 4:30pm Mondays and Wednesdays in Room 2555D in the
Engineering Building. All level and majors are welcome!!!
Thank you!
