The Manatt Fellowship nurtures talent in democracy-building among graduate
students pursuing a degree in the Midwest. The prestigious Fellowship
consists of a $5,000 stipend to subsidize fellows' living expenses while in
D.C. for four to six weeks.
Fellows typically receive $2,000 upon the start of the fellowship, $2,000
midway through and $1,000 after completing their research.
Please consider applying or forwarding the letter below to a colleague who

Note that while the application process is very doable in a short amount of
time, the deadline is March 1 2014.

Dear Michigan State Graduate Students:
My parents Charles and Kathleen Manatt established the Manatt Democracy
Fellowships at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) to
provide an opportunity for outstanding graduate students from the American
Midwest, including Michigan, to DC in order to conduct research on
democracy-building and governance. IFES has not seen very many applicants
from universities that are in Michigan - but we would like to see that
happen.
