I agree that "soon" should be used instead of "recently". The mistake is
due to a mis-transference from one language to another. The literal Chinese
translation for "recently" means a period of time close to the present, in
either direction, that is, a period of time in the past close to the
present or a period of time in the near future. "Recently" in English,
however, has a much narrower meaning.
I am not sure if the same mistake appears in some textbooks in China but if
anyone makes the mistake, I think it is due to the mis-transference from
one language to another.
