Story-Telling: Surviving/Thriving in Another Culture & Its Profound Impact

    When Chinese students are struggling about learn English grammars and 
vocabulary, many American students who are learning Chinese are also 
suffering  the pain of drawing Chinese characters! When Chinese students are 
shocked by the MSU football games, American students are also surprised that 
Chinese babies wearing pants with the backs cut out! Story-Telling: 
Surviving/Thriving in Another Culture & Its Profound Impact我的故事:“奋斗”跨文
化篇is a new event for American students who have the experiences of study 
abroad, intern, and work in China to share their stories, talking about the 
challenges they had, the strategies they used, the tears and joy, and the 
impact that they received on personal and professional levels from studying an 
living in another country and a totally different culture with other people who 
are interested in cross cultural experience!

GUEST SPEAKER—CHRIS ROSZELL,[log in to unmask]

    Chris Roszell is a MSU alum from James Madison College. He learned Chinese 
language at MSU and studied abroad at Peking University in 2010. During his 
college life, Chris was involved in numerous events related to Chinese language, 
culture, and business. He participated in Chinese Speech Contest, served as 
Director of Public Relations for the Broad China Business Society, and helped to 
promote business trips to some of the most famous companies when he was in 
China, such as Wuliangye Group五粮液集团. In 2010 MSU Chinese Spring Festival 
Gala, Chris and his American friends performed a short comic in Chinese, if you 
watch that Gala, you must remember him. Yes, he is the American student who 
sang the popular Chinese song “Qingfeideyi-情非得已”.  He started CourseHack.it 
with two Chinese Computer Science PhD candidates, a website aimed to help 
students to organize assignments at Detroit .
