Assistant Professor of Strategic Management or Innovation Management (1,0 fte)

Vacancy number: 27.08.12
Closing date: 30 July 2012

The department of Business Administration of the Nijmegen School of Management (Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands) invites applications for an assistant professor position, starting before January 1, 2013. We especially encourage applications from candidates in the field of Strategic Management or Innovation Management.

Responsibilities
As an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management or Innovation Management, you will provide high-quality courses related to Business Administration. You will be involved in the teaching programmes of the Nijmegen School of Management, in particular the Bachelor’s programme in Business Administration and the Master’s programme in Strategy. Furthermore, you are expected to carry out high-quality research activities in the field of Strategic Management or Innovation Management, with reference to other research groups within the multidisciplinary setting of the faculty research institute IMR, and to successfully obtain funding from governmental, European as well as private institutions. You have the potential to publish regularly in leading international academic journals. You will participate actively in the internationalization activities of the Nijmegen School of Management.

Work environment
The Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) of Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands is an academic centre of research and higher learning, focusing on institutional and managerial issues within complex organizations in both the public and private domain. There are seven focus areas within the NSM: Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Social and Political Sciences of the Environment, Human Geography, and Spatial Planning. The NSM strives for a multidisciplinary approach whenever possible. Altogether, the NSM employs 220 full-time staff, of whom 75% are academics. The NSM has about 3,000 students.

The Department of Business Administration is one of the four departments within the NSM and consists of five chairs: Strategy, Marketing, Organizational Design and Development, Strategic Human Resources Management and Research Methods. What sets the Nijmegen curriculum in Business Administration apart is that it takes a Responsible Organization perspective on Business Administration. This focus reflects a broader view concerning the developments within the discipline of management itself. There are multiple levels of value creation in firms and organizations, enabling the combination of various, different stakeholder perspectives. In the curriculum, the standard course listing is therefore combined with classes that put Business Administration within an ethical, historical, philosophical, institutional, and methodological perspective. As such, the curriculum reflects the research of the Department of Business Administration, which is also characterized by a multidisciplinary approach.

What we expect from you
You should hold or should anticipate completing a Ph.D. in the field of Strategic Management or Innovation Management or a related and clearly relevant field by December 30, 2012. Candidates for the position of assistant professor should be promising scholars. You will be expected to publish research in major journals and to teach high-quality graduate and undergraduate courses.

What we have to offer
We offer you:
- employment: 1,0 fte;
- in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
- Radboud University Nijmegen has excellent conditions of employment. The salary depends on qualifications and experience;
- applicants from abroad moving to the Netherlands may qualify for a special tax relief, by which 30% of their salary is tax free;
- duration of the contract: indefinite period of time;
