> STEM Education Project Coordinator
> A coordinator is sought for a large, multi-institutional project to increase the number of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) students and graduates at CSU San Marcos and Palomar Community College. The project includes responsibilities for recruiting and retention elements, including coordination of outreach to local high schools and the military, curriculum improvement at Palomar and CSUSM, and cross-institutional collaboration. The STEM Talent Enhancement Program (STEP) Coordinator will report directly to the project principal investigators. This will be a full-time position with benefits.

> Preferred requirements:
> Masters degree in a STEM field with experience in curriculum development, tutoring services, or other student support services, as well as project and budget management.
> Familiarity with the California State University and California Community College systems
> Familiarity with the U.S. Armed Services or active duty/veteran students

> Minimum requirements:
> Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a commitment for advancing the STEM fields, education, and educational access; or bachelors degree in another field with at least 2 years experience in STEM education-related programs
> Ability to work both independently and within a small team, and to take on leadership roles
> Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
> Self-initiative, motivation and an enthusiastic approach to work
> Flexibility and the ability to resolve ambiguous situations
> Advanced computer skills and knowledge of software including MS Office
> Awareness of diversity issues in the STEM disciplines and the ability to work effectively with a broad cross-section of individuals

> Responsibilities:
> Coordinate project activities at both CSUSM and Palomar
> Oversee STEM Center, including initiation and supervision of science tutoring program
> Coordinate scholarship programs, including recruiting and screening applicants, and administering scholarships
> Assist with hiring, training, and supervision of student employees, including tutors, Learning Assistants, and outreach ambassadors
> Support faculty in curriculum improvement and development activities
> Coordinate outreach activities with local K12 schools
> Prepare and distribute recruiting and advertising materials
> Maintain information on project web pages
> Coordinate evaluation and assessment components with external evaluator
> Provide support for administrative management of project as assigned, including tracking and managing budgets in coordination with staff at the Office for Biomedical Research and Training
> Responsibilities will be carried out either independently or under the guidance and direction of the Principle Investigators.

> About CSUSM and Palomar:
> CSUSM and Palomar are located in north San Diego County, less than two miles apart and linked by light rail system. North San Diego County is a fast growing region, with a high concentration of technology-based firms. The region served by CSUSM also has a significant military presence including a number of large military bases.
