*MSU's non-tenure track faculty vote to unionize*

EAST LANSING (AP) — Non-tenure track faculty members at *Michigan State
University* have voted to unionize.
Non-tenure track faculty lack long-term job security and generally get
lower pay than tenure-track teachers.
Organizer Richard Manderfield says Friday's vote was 240 to 113 in favor
of unionizing.
The visiting assistant professor tells /The State News/ the group will
draft a contract proposal and hopes to begin negotiations in the fall.
University Associate Vice President Terry Curry says Michigan State
respects collective bargaining rights and will seek an open relationship
with union members.
The /Lansing State Journal/ says the 650 covered faculty members will be
affiliated with *American Federation of Teachers*.
