Have you had a chance to verify that the time of the workstation is in sync with that of the domain it's trying to contact?

I'm hunting down a similar issue in a another ad.msu.edu domain.
On problematic workstations, Start>Run>\\domain.ad.msu.edu fails and users
experience painful logon times. Ping\nslookup for domain.ad.msu.edu does
work. DNS\WINS is consistent with working workstations.
You are using imc.ad.msu.edu, correct? Give me a call, I'm glad to help.
