Dear readers,
Over the past 25 years I have served in Africa (Niger, Malawi, Mali) using my knowledge in IPM, extension methodology and ecology. I have found it very rewarding, even if it didn't make my check book fat. Here is an opportunity for you, if you have such an interest to share you knowledge and experiences in various areas of ag coops and marketing.

Dear Food, Agriculture and Africa Colleagues: (HELP AFRICA! PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY!)
We currently have a variety of openings for FarmServe Africa for Cooperative Development in West Africa. Assignments are 2 or more weeks in length and all expenses are paid except your time.
Your Cooperative Management assignment would take you to Ghana, Guinea, Mali or Nigeria, West Africa, through the FarmServe Africa program. FarmServe Africa is a USAID Farmer-to-Farmer program led by OIC International. OIC International works primarily in Africa and has as its mission to help others help themselves through sustainable and practical training. Agriculture is just one of the many topics we are involved with.
Assignments are on average 3 weeks in length (more if you have the time) and all expenses are paid except for your time. You would work to teach African farmers and farm educators about topics such as:

*
Organizational development of cooperatives
*
Improved quality and consistency of product
*
Improved marketing distribution of cooperatives
*
Basic record keeping to improve the bottom line, for cooperatives
*
Behaving like a farm business, negotiations, communications, promotion of cooperatives
*
Moving up the value chain, for farming cooperatives.

You don't have to be a farmer to apply for the program. We welcome teachers, business people, and others with the above background.
If you or someone you know is a management, cooperatives or business person then please contact us. Even if you don't know anyone, you can help Africa by forwarding this message to those who might be interested. Tel. 215-842-0860. Email [log in to unmask]
Be the one who makes the time, for Africa.
Thank you for your time and attention,
Michelle
