LEGISLATURE TO MEET WEDNESDAYS THROUGH SUMMER
The House and Senate, which had been scheduled to recess for July and nearly all of August, will meet every Wednesday through the summer as it negotiates with the Granholm administration on the budget, taxes and economic development.
Matt Resch, spokesperson for House Speaker Craig DeRoche (R-Novi), said the Legislature wants to have budget bills sent to House-Senate conference committees by the end of next week. And the House wants to have its counterproposal to Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm's plan on the Single Business Tax announced by then too, Mr. Resch said.
From there, the July and August sessions will be used for negotiations with the administration, he said.
