INTERNATIONAL WOMENS POLICY RESEARCH CONFERENCE
The Institute for Womens Policy Research is pleased to announce its Eighth
International Womens Policy Research Conference, When Women Gain, So Does
the World, to be held in Washington, D.C. June 20-21, 2005, at the Omni
Shoreham Hotel. The Conference is co-sponsored by the Womens Studies Program
of George Washington University and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and held
in conjunction with the Research Network on Gender, Politics and the State,
also known as RNGS.
The conference will address a range of issues related to women and girls
economic, political, health, and social status, and will bring together
scholars and other leaders from around the world to strategize on policy
approaches to address those issues. The conference will provide a forum for
policymakers, advocates, researchers, and practitioners from academia,
unions, business, government, non-profits, and the media to share
information and debate policy strategy.
This biennial international conference attracted more than 650 participants
in 2003. We invite you to participate in 2005s event, and hope that you will
plan to attend now! Please watch for the launch of our conference website at
www.iwpr.org and for the announcement of our Call for Papers, in the coming
weeks. For more information, please contact IWPRs Conference Fellow,
Elizabeth Mandeville, at [log in to unmask] or (202) 785-5100.
Feminist scholars, economists, and others should note that the International
Association for Feminist Economists, also known as IAFFE, will be hosting
their 14th Annual Conference at The George Washington University in
Washington, D.C. during the weekend of June 17-19, 2005. Please plan to
attend both! For more information about IAFFE, please visit www.iaffe.org.
