Dear WAIB members and recent new members,
The WAIB list-serve has been updated with the names of those of you who
have just joined AIB. I am sending out three announcements again
(below) to those of you who may not have received them earlier this
week. These announcements are about two WAIB events in Stockholm, and a
room-sharing forum.
In addition, you will find below a message from Lorraine Eden, WAIB
Founder, Past President and manager of WAIB-L. Please read carefully
through the details on how to manage your membership of the updated
WAIB list-serve because some web links and email addresses have changed.
Please also take a few moments to update your demographic data,
particularly your teaching and research interests. This information
will be useful for developing networking and mentoring relationships
when you meet fellow WAIB members at the business meeting and
reception, as well as at the panel session.
Note that subscriptions to WAIB-L are restricted to WAIB members.
Membership in WAIB is open to both female and male members of the
Academy of International Business. All subscribers must be members of
the Academy of International Business. We currently have 284
subscribers to WAIB-L, about 10% of all AIB members. These subscribers
are predominately women, but both WAIB and its list serve are open to
male AIB members.

WAIB invites members to make use of a new service aimed at
facilitating room-shares at the 2004 AIB conference in Stockholm.
If you are looking for a person to share a room, please send a brief
message to the WAIB list-serv at:

In your message, state your name and email address for contact, and
give brief details of the dates of your hotel visit and the name of the
hotel. Please contact other WAIB members seeking a room-share using
EMAIL DIRECTLY TO THE INDIVIDUAL MEMBER. Do not try to make personal
arrangements through the list-serv.
Please note: WAIB offers only a communication forum and declines all
responsibility and liability that may arise from use of this forum in
arranging room-shares.

Welcome to the New WAIB-L Listserv for Women in the Academy of
International Business
WAIB is a women's networking group within the Academy of International
Business. Its mission is to:
* Encourage networking among women faculty, administrators and PhD
students in international business studies by holding a WAIB reception
and business meeting at the AIB annual meetings, publishing a
newsletter, and hosting an electronic list serve discussion group.
* Offer one-on-one mentoring, linking female junior faculty and
doctoral students with senior women faculty and administrators, as a
way to increase the number of women who specialize in international
business studies education, research and administration.
* Encourage research on gender-related issues in international
business. The current executive members of WAIB are Lyn Amine
(President), Lorraine Eden (Founder and Past-President), Susan Trussler
(Vice President), Hildy Teegen (Secretary-Treasurer), Susan Gupta
